These appear on nearly every move and are easy to underestimate.
- Real estate transfer tax, which in Pennsylvania is commonly split between buyer and seller and varies by municipality.
- Movers or truck rental, plus packing materials.
- Utility deposits, transfers, and internet installation.
- Locks, blinds, paint, and the first round of small repairs.
The quiet one
Moving into more space almost always creates a furnishing gap. It does not need to be filled in the first month. Living in the rooms for a season is a better way to decide what belongs in them.
